Welcome to Cupcake Goes Abroad!

Hey y'all!

You're probably here because you asked me to keep you updated on my adventure in Canada, and thus I (recently) sent you a link.

Nonetheless, here's a bit of introduction. I'm Liesa, a (nearly) 18-year-old from Belgium who decided to redo her last year of high school abroad. So, now I'm an exchange student who stays in British Columbia with a host family and goes to the local school.

During my time here, I'll share my experiences through blogs & vlogs that'll be posted on this website.

Why Canada?

Choosing Canada was an easy decision. I've always loved nature and wanted to get away from the crowded cities that I grew up in. Don't get me wrong, I love it there; I just wanted a change of surroundings. Countries like Ireland or Norway also offered that nature, but I thought 'If I go away for a year, I wanna go away, away, like, far away.' Besides that, I've always been dreaming of 'The high school life,' and further improving my English was a very nice bonus. So Canada it became.
